Hello again!
Hi there!
How are you all doing?
I want to let you know that I just quit Facebook (again).
A burden has lifted of my chest. The constant checking just slurped up my time.
Actually, I would even love to never have to check my email boxes ever again.
Really important stuff should be done in presence of all the involved.
I recently found out that Christopher Nolan lives without an email address and without a mobile phone. A real hero and genius!!
I feel that it's more fun to tell a new story in person instead of posting it here on the web. So, in a way I'm saying that I have a lot of new things to share, but I hope to see you someday, so I can share it with you!
See you soon perhaps!
Love,
Afong

De Filmavond (1)
Beste
studenten!
Waar
waren jullie?
klassenvertegenwoordiger zou moeten kiezen,
Facebook-account.
In
naam mooi vond.
Bongo
was haar naam.
In
ieder geval de groetjes,
Afongo

Out of the blue

A day behind the scenes
Can you believe I had a day with odd similarities to Willy Wonka's Chocolate factory?
There were 5 contestants.
We had all won 'a golden ticket'.
We were winning finalists on an internet quiz.
And it gave us access to the place of our dreams:
The television headquarters, where we could meet the idols of our favorite show.
'Wie is de mol' is an extremely popular TV show in Holland.
And the big prize was to have a real peak in the kitchen of the factory:
travelling with the cast and crew of the next season.
Where all the contestants in Willy Wonka's story seem to be seperating themselves,
we stuck together till the bitter end.
What a blast!
This was the craziest quiz I'd ever done,
with the most insane questions I've ever seen.
During this day
I got to talk to several stars.
I got my T-shirt signed.
I got to see a team of hard-working crew make our day special.
I got to meet some insane fanboys who were even crazier than I was!
And I was in a group of people that soon forgot they were having a competition
and rather felt like good friends.
To keep the series highly confusing and mysterious, the questions in the quiz were increased tenfold while keeping their hard difficulty. We were given the amount of time it would normally take me to answer just one.
Given this 'insane' set of rules, it was even more fun to play.
The elimination can be seen in this video.
Still, you wouldn't believe how insanely cool my day was just by watching it.
I guess for best experiences, you'll have to think a bit like Charly.

A short compilation
I made a compilation of some videos me and my sister took before.
Hence the title 'before'.
The oldest video dates back to 2006, can you believe it?
It didn't have enough sound, so I added it to the mix of this Balinese Capoeira clip.

Success of the day
It's nice to see some activity on the survey about happiness.
To see the results, I now refer you to the bottom of the page.
As a counterpart, I this time ask you to think about the things that make you rather feel the opposite way.
You could interpret this as asking the same question and flipping the answers,
but my senses tell me the outcome is going to be somewhat different.
The only holdback is you might not be used to answering towards the aspects that bring negativity to your life.
If it is any comfort, I really can't see who has answered.
Sometimes I wish I could :)
Enjoy and good luck!

This life
Lately I encounter quite a few moments that you wouldn't believe if I told you them.
It's fantastic to experience a thing like that, because you can't believe you really experience it. It might just be a bad movie you landed in.
But the sad thing is that you don't know how to say it to someone.
If you experience these unbelievable moments in a burst, the one after the other, it's even harder to tell the entire story.
What if there are no other whitnesses?
What if you're alone?
What if it all didn't happen?
Are you becoming crazy?
No.

Grandmother Googling you
A great thing about blogging
is that it can make yourself feel
as if
speaking to a lot of people
listening unconditionally
Even when things can't seem to get worse
and even when everyone's asleep
YOU DON'T EVEN HAVE TO POST THE MESSAGE
Just write down all your thoughts first
That part's just like writing in a diary
The difference comes when you actually think it's good enough, and post it anyway
A 'fan' might read it.
An agent might.
Even your grandmother could (if she knows how to google you :)
One tip for the impulsive blogger: don't immediately post your text.
Even though it felt great to put down all that you wanted to say,
if you don't check on readability, it's probably not going in as easy with people as it came out of you.

Some things are unbloggable
I suppose you would like to know an example.
Wouldn't it be a paradox, to mention something unbloggable in a blog?
Yes, very much paradoxal.
But I looked up the word and it means only to seem impossible.
So, even when a paradox, it should be possible.
What is unbloggable?
Certain life experience that you value highly
but find too hard to completely share
because of its complex
situation-dependent
personal kind of perspective.
You want to blog it
but it just
doesn't
seem to translate to
such an alienating platform
as wide and anonimous
as the internet.
You start to question
why
the internet is so appealing in the first place.
Oh yes!
you can reach anybody!
But how much percent of anybody do you really know?
I quit Facebook the other day.
It felt GREAT...
One place less to lose myself.
Find yourself!

Happiness in a click

The second time I visited Spain there was an encounter with a sight I couldn't help wanting to capture.
While waiting on the refuge to cross the street, I asked the yellow-and-blue trio if I could have a picture. The guy in the middle expected to make a picture of me, but then realised it was them I wanted!
I left my card with contact details, but I haven't heard anything ever since.
At least by posting it now, my part is done :)
